Hutto sits out on open blackland prairie east of Round Rock, with new subdivisions pressing straight into former farmland — and the pests that come with it.
Most of Hutto was cropland a generation ago. When a field becomes a subdivision, the field mice, rats and fire ants that lived there do not leave — they adapt. Homes on the outer edge of a new section, with pasture still on the other side of the fence, get the most rodent activity every fall.
The prairie clay here behaves like Pflugerville: it moves with the weather and opens gaps around slabs. Combined with Brushy Creek running along the south side of town, that gives you ants and roaches after weather swings and mosquitoes through the warm months.
These are the calls we get most often from Hutto homeowners.

A full ring across the lawn, reactivated every time it's watered.
A full 360° spray around the perimeter — pests turned back at the edge.
